I’m Derek.
Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I’m a Sr. UX Designer. Simply put, it means I craft and design digital products and experiences, like apps and websites that aim to make your life easier. I’m very fortunate to work in such an awesome field, alongside extremely talented and smart people every day all working towards one goal — making a real impact in the world.
I live among the mountains in Denver, CO. I’m passionate about solving challenging problems through good design, strategy, and research. Curious by nature, I love connecting with and understanding people. I get jazzed leading discovery workshops, client design reviews, and when brainstorming with Product Managers or other Designers. Collaboration and teamwork are my thing.
I have worked in-house and in agency settings both big and small where I’ve worn many hats including Senior UX Designer, Product Designer, UX Strategist, Interaction Designer, Information Architect, UX Researcher, Product Manager, and Project Manager, among other titles. I have lived and worked abroad and been an independent freelancer. While at James Madison University (Go Dukes!) I studied Sociology and Business, I’ve always been intrigued by the intersections of human-interaction, technology, design, and business.
I’m always looking to grow, learn new skills, and develop my craft. I lose track of time when I’m reading about design-thinking, drawing or painting, snowboarding down the side of a mountain, or exploring a new place and its food and culture.
